Kraken Water Polo

As participation increased in both the spring VB Parks and Recreation Water Polo Program and the fall Virginia Beach High School (VBHS) water polo season, interest grew for additional training and competitive opportunities. In response to this interest, the high school 'travel' team transitioned into a more organized travel team.  

Kraken Water Polo was established to provide athletes with optional opportunities for skill development and travel-based competition beyond local programming.  Due to growth, the travel program began operating as its own indepedent program within Coastal Virginia (CoVA) Water Polo.

In 2023, VBHS Water Polo assisted in coordinating a Kraken Water Polo travel team.  The high school travel team, composed of Virginia Beach High School Water Polo athletes, registered and participated in the USA Water Polo Junior Olympics (Session III) held in Dallas, Texas.

Kraken Water Polo supports athletes who may choose to pursue additional experiences such as regional camps and development programs offered through USA Water Polo, including Olympic Development Program (ODP) and Northeast Zone (NEZ) camps along with local tournaments and or scrimmages. Participation in these opportunities is voluntary and subject to the requirements of the hosting organizations.
