Water Polo is a fun aquatics sport and great workout.  Many Division I, II and III swim programs require their swimmers to participate in Water Polo off season to reduce burnout and improve team morale.  In 1900 it became the first team sport in the Olympic Games.  Since then the U.S. has won at least 11 medals.  Approximately 64 universities have women's  NCAA teams and 41 have men's teams.

As participation and community interest in VBHS Water Polo have grown, so has our commitment to building something that lasts. VBHS Water Polo is a nonprofit organization, recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. This structure allows us to support sustainable programming and expand opportunities for athletes across the community.

Contributions to VBHS Water Polo may be tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law under IRC Section 170. Our most recent tax filing, the 2025 990-N e-Postcard, is available  2025 990N e-postcard. 

Virginia Beach High School Water Polo is run entirely by a volunteer board of directors, who dedicate countless hours of their own time to keep these opportunities available and accessible to the community.
